The following infographic is a quick guideline to Academic Research Skills and Academic Integrity at La Trobe University. This infographic could be used as a simple guideline for students starting at La Trobe University or also used a reminder for those currently enrolled.

I initially completed the Academic Integrity Module (AIM) prior to my first assessment at La Trobe University Shepparton Campus. I must admit that I was initially surprised by the term "self-plagiarism” but can readily see how submitting work that you have previously submitted would raise a few flags in the plagiarism detection software. As such my first guideline in the infographic highlighted a need to be honest, fair, and ethical in all matters.

I actually thought a lot of the AIM was using common sense. However, the Academic Research Skills proved a little more challenging. As someone who had never attended university, and attended high school over 30 years ago, I found the APA 7 referencing more than a little daunting! Hopefully, as I have progressed through the semester I have improved through use of the referencing tool found on the Library website. I encourage all new students to familiarise themselves with the facilities that the library has on offer!
